HOW TO OBSERVE

Yeehaw!

If You Don’t Own a Horse

  • Donate money or supplies to a reputable non-profit horse rescue organization.
  • Volunteer your time at a horse-related nonprofit. Consider therapeutic riding schools as well as rescues.
  • Watch a horse movie.
  • Wear a clothing item or piece of jewelry that shows you’re a horse person.
  • Use #NationalDayoftheHorse to post on social media.

If You Have a Horse

  • Take a trail ride or go for a hack with a horse.
  • Give your horse an extended grooming session.
  • Update your horse’s halter, and add a name plate.
  • Buy your horse a fancy bridle brow band.

If you own a horse, share them with someone who’s otherwise doesn’t have access to equids. Horses and rural life are becoming more and more of a luxury, and casual encounters with them happen less frequently than in recent history. By inviting non-horse-people to meet your animals, you’ll give them an opportunity they probably don’t have otherwise. Who knows you might just change someone’s life.
